2002 to 2004
An Australian-based financial services group, Suncorp is engaged in the provision of banking, superannuation, insurance, retail services, funds management products and corporate and commercial sector services.
We commenced work with Suncorp on their Annual Report in 2002. Each year we produced Suncorp’s Concise and Consolidated Annual Reports and associated shareholder collateral. As regulatory requirements increased over time, so did the level of information required to be included in these reports. This in turn increased their size – of particular concern was the increasing weight. At the time Suncorp distributed tens of thousands of reports (both comprehensive and concise versions) to shareholders. The shift in weight posed a substantial potential cost impost for postage. We worked with Suncorp and the print supplier to deliver a solution that maintained postage costs by ‘trimming’ the reports to slightly under A4 size. The millimetres shaved were sufficient to contain the reports under the postage weight break and resulted in savings of over $100,000. Our consultancy services also enabled Suncorp to improve its report content and format. Our comprehensive services included:
- review of previous year’s report and provision of improvement suggestions for content and framework
- concept to delivery project management services
- assistance to authors
- substantive editing
- report design and layout services
- print management (both web and sheet fed)
- art direction for photography.
At internationally recognised benchmarking forum, Australasian Reporting Awards Suncorp’s report were consistently awarded Silver.
